'Blue Skies' Bridal Collection and My Inspiration.

March 22, 2018

Did you see the post on Festival Brides last week.  It featured my new collection 'Blue Skies'

The collection was all inspired by the sky and nature hence the name Blue Skies!  It features embroidered birds, delicate lace feathers and dip died corsets and skirts that echo the colours of the sky. My fashion forward style is very unique and my pieces are designed for brides who like something different, a little wild and veer away from tradition.

When working on a new piece, I like to tap into nature, gathering inspiration from delicate flowers and textured plants – and that has always been my style, having been brought up surrounded by the forest’s natural beauty. After reading 'Rewild Yourself: Becoming Nature by Rachel Corby', she realised that she had a story to tell, and that story is told through Blue Skies.

Everyone has to endure some moment of struggle in life, be it losing a relative, finding the right partner, trying to conceive, or losing a loved one. For me, it was my father’s cruel battle with cancer whilst trying to start my own family. 'Rewild Yourself' is about connecting with nature as the modern world begins to diminish our innate wildness.  I saw a blue tit resting in the middle of a pathway, and as I passed, the tiny bird didn’t move. I edged closer, even managing to touch it before it flew away. This was pretty magical and I believe this to be a sign of hope and encouragement to hold fast.  Therefore, my embroidered bird and feather detail is a symbol of strength in the face of adversity and marks a tribute to the strength of the human experience and as a reflection of her past.

'Forget-me-not'

 'Forget-me-not'

You can see my Forget-me-not' (above) on my instagram account.  It looks perfect against a macrame wall hanging by Half Hitched Macrame for your bohemian style wedding.  You can also personalise your embroidery image, I chose a bird because of what happened to me.  However,  I have had people mention rabbits, and horses.  I have a friend who does these amazing illustrations and her water colour birds are just magical.  Visit her etsy shop here https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/SherylColeArt

So whether it is a bird, a horse, a dog, we can do the illustration for you and change it into a pretty personalised piece of embroidery.

So there is my inspiration for my 'Blue Skies' collection.   I hope you liked it and I look forward to working with some lovely brides in 2019.
