If you haven't noticed I have been posting a few spring flowers on my social media channels as soon spring is arriving and I love the flowers you can get at this time of year. This weekend at the Most Curious Wedding Fair my installation space will include lots of these glorious spring blooms. The talented Sarah Harper Flowers will be helping me create something beautiful and colourful with lots of pink.
As we are working together I thought it would be nice to introduce her, and find out a little more about her and her work. Sarah Harper Flowers.

How did you decide or start to be a florist?
I grew up surrounded by flowers! My mum is an amazing florist and both my parents had their own farm shop for 25 years. I have very early memories of helping my mum by holding bridal bouquets and getting excited as we delivered and set up venues. I always used to play with any of the left overs, so I guess I started making up little posies from about 4 years old!
I did a degree in Creative Art and knew I wanted a job which would allow me to be creative. I truly love florals as a medium; being a natural product no two stems are the same, giving me the freedom to create free-flowing natural floral arrangements which change with the seasons. I was lucky enough to qualify for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2014, in the Young Florist of the Year category, and managed to get a bronze medal and from there Sarah Harper Flowers was born!
There is still nothing better than returning from a market run with a van packed full of the most beautiful florals to start the day with!

What is your favourite season for flowers?
favourite flowers to work with?
I love spring! When the first few tulips, snowdrops and hellebores come through there is a genuine excitement, especially after winter and the cold dark mornings, it is so lovely to see all the colours of spring pop through! The market becomes a sea of colour to choose from the beautiful shades of ruffled Ranunculus, delicate lilac, pink blossom, perfect little blue muscari and the heavenly scent that comes from hyacinthus.
I have a few favourite flowers which tends to change every season! But I will always love peonies. There is something about their short season and their big blousy heads that is just perfection. I also love dainty clematis and the incredible scent that comes with fresh mint - I try to use them in everything!
What new trends will we be seeing do you think?
I think we will see a few more purple and lilac colour schemes with the Pantone colour of the year being Ultra Violet. We might even see more brides opting for brighter colours rather than sticking to the very romantic pastel palettes. Couples are also very much up for trying new styles, you don’t have to carry a traditional bridal bouquet, and some clients are opting for floral hoops as an alternative which is lovely to see.

What are brides asking for at the moment?
Our clients know our style and come to us for natural freshly picked and styled florals. We love loose free-flowing bouquets that are packed with fresh flowers and foliage. We are seeing more clients opt for more floral-heavy bouquets full of texture and scent. We love to include some natural perfume in our bouquets, everyone has a memory of sniffing the delightful aroma of a garden rose and we want to capture that.
Do you have a particular style?
We would describe our style as natural, romantic and relaxed. We work with our clients to create floral designs which truly reflect your unique relationship as a couple.
After finding out more about Sarah and how she started out, I am eve more thrilled to be working with her at Most Curious. It will be lovely to see the final outcome, with the macrame by Half Hitched Macrame, with a model standing in front surrounded by pretty florals in Sarah's style.
