Jessica Turner Designs: Corsets

The corset is back and hitting the streets, being worn as bustiers over shirts or pretty dresses. I have been designing corsets for over 7 years and I started in Australia. I realised that there was a gap in the market for a luxe corset to be worn as an outer garment for that special occasion, a honeymoon, a wedding, or the races.

A demure corset, with a provocative twist, this is how my designs are portrayed. Some might say that the corset is too risky, especially for the races. However, add some stunning sleeves or shoulder straps and wear it with a suitable length skirt or a pair of smart trousers and it can be seen as an elegant and stunning piece of attire. The use of steel boning and busks and coutil fabric underneath make them sturdy. My designs are not designed as a waist cincher but they are a secure fit and they do give a great shape to the feminine form.

The corset style has been going on for years in bridal fashion, and I believe in giving this tradition a new contemporary perspective. My bridal corsets and separates are made from my signature fabric, a raw silk yarn knitted on a hand knitting machine and combined with a range of luxe fabrics and delicate laces, thus creating stunning textures and unique qualities. It has been described as a "beautiful piece of embroidery." I can't wait to show you my 2018 collection that I am working on at the moment, think knitted, intricate beadwork, feathers and of course some romantic sleeves to accentuate the corsets and bodices.
